Our story:

In 2003, physical therapist Isabella de Souza Menezes began her master's degree at UNIFESP-SP under the theme "Constraint-Induced Therapy in Acute Patients". During this period, she started a relationship with the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB-USA). The birthplace of Constraint-induced Movement Therapy and, in the future, where she would carry out instructor training of the technique together with her future work partners, Physical Therapist, Natalia Duarte Pereira Furtado and Occupational Therapist, Sarah Monteiro dos Anjos.

Isabella, Natalia and Sarah were the first Brazilians to undergo training in the United States, with the creators of the technique, and to bring the original protocol created by Edward Taub to Brazil in 2008.

This union resulted in the creation of the group Terapia por Contensão Induzida®️ (TCI) that was born in 2008 and became our trademark for the purpose of training other professionals in the area. In addition, the group works in the clinical and research areas.

Since then, the group has carried out validation of several scales used in Constraint-Induced Therapy, published articles in high-impact journals, wrote book chapters on rehabilitation, established partnerships with important universities, trained professionals from institutions; and carried out consultancy work for the implementation of the protocol in private clinics.

In 2016, Sarah moved to the United States to complete her full PHD with the Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) group at UAB, under the guidance of Dr. David Morris. Currently, she has completed her post - doc on the subject and is part of the CIMT research and training group in Alabama, in addition to participating in our video conference courses, bringing updates on the technique.

More recently, Natalia became a professor at the Department of Physiotherapy at UFScar - SP and brought us the privilege of our courses becoming an Extension Activity of the University.
